Movies in the Park: The Best Way To Watch

The Best Way to Watch

Here at the Preserve at Cantera, we love movies.

Who doesn’t!?

Something about the big screen, the snacks, the atmosphere, draws us into another world. But even better than that is the added atmosphere of watching a movie outside, with a big group of friends, under the sky with the summer breeze blowing in our hair. Add in the background sound of running water, and there is nothing quite like a movie in the park.

So when we found out that our neighbors in the Warrenville Park District were doing Movies in the Park at Cerny Park right across the DuPage River, we were more than excited. Just a 3-minute drive or a 20-minute walk, Cerny Park is right on the river, just west of Preserve at Cantera.

Event Info

The event is free and ongoing, so there are still four more movie nights to enjoy this summer. Seating opens at 8pm, with the movie beginning at dusk. Pre-packaged concessions can be purchased onsite. Recent regulations and restrictions have loosened, so pre-registration is no longer required for these events. Patrons will be asked to sit 6 feet apart from other families or groups and expected to follow current mask guidelines.

Events end at 11 pm and the park closes after the movie.

The Park

Cerny Park is located on the Dupage River at 4S150 River Rd. It includes open, grassy areas, baseball, volleyball, basketball, and a big playground. There are sheltered picnic tables, and the park can be booked for private events.

The Schedule

With four dates left - two in July and two in August, there is still plenty of time to catch a movie!

Thursday, July 15th - The Lion King

Thursday, July 22nd - Coco

Thursday, August 12th - Up

Thursday, August 19th - Grease

Again, all events start at 8 pm with the movie at dusk and end at 11 pm.

Further information can be found here at the Warrenville Parks District website.
